Aimee Harel (nee Wagenheim) is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and photographer.
Originally from Sydney, Aimee studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Photomedia at Sydney College of the Arts. She was awarded The Fauvette Loureiro Memorial Scholarship for student travel, where she undertook a 4-month study period at Le Ecole de Beaux Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Paris, France.
After a brief period working in a commercial photographic gallery in Bondi, Aimee returned to study a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney, and built a 12-year career in copywriting and digital marketing.
Post-pandemic, Aimee opened her Melbourne family home to children and their families interested in creating art in community. She gained first-time experience in art facilitation through multiple self-hosted workshops and gained further experience through employment at children’s art schools.
This work led to connections with several artists with intellectual disabilities whom she worked with as a mentor and friend under her studio name ‘Artsong’. Artsong ceased operation in October 2024.
Aimee’s focus for 2025 and beyond is making and exhibiting art, and her family.
An avid art collector, Aimee is deeply inspired by the authentic nature of outsider, naive and children’s art.
